Dr. Blackmon completed her Doctor of Audiology degree at Gallaudet University, and is fluent in American Sign Language. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Hearing and Speech Sciences with a Minor in Linguistics from the University of Maryland, College Park.

Why Patients Choose Dr. Blackmon

Patients appreciate Dr. Blackmon's thorough, patient-centered approach. She takes the time to understand your specific hearing concerns, lifestyle needs, and communication goals before creating a personalized treatment plan. Whether you're exploring hearing aids for the first time, seeking relief from tinnitus, or looking for pediatric audiology services, Dr. Blackmon provides expert guidance in a warm, welcoming environment.

Dr. Blackmon is also member of Dr. Cliff Olson's HearingUp network which recognizes audiologists nationwide who commit to audiology Best Practices and the highest standards of hearing health care.

Her clinical expertise includes comprehensive diagnostic testing, advanced tinnitus management, electrophysiology evaluations (ABR & EcochG), and precision hearing aid fittings using Real-Ear verification - a best practice technique that ensures your hearing aids are programmed accurately for your unique hearing loss.

Research That Informs Better Care

Dr. Blackmon's commitment to advancing the field extends beyond clinical practice. She has a particular interest in how hearing loss impacts cognitive function and memory - an increasingly important area of research. In 2024, she published findings in the Journal of the Acoustical Society of America examining asymmetrical hearing loss and its effects on perception and working memory. This research directly shapes how she approaches patient care, especially for those with complex hearing profiles.

Experience You Can Trust

Prior to joining Live Better Hearing + Balance, Dr. Blackmon served as a clinical audiologist at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, where she managed hearing conservation programs for military personnel and civilians. She also previously practiced at our Chevy Chase location before moving to Rockville.

As a CAOHC Course Director, she has trained hundreds of service members and Department of Defense personnel in hearing screening protocols - experience that reflects her dedication to hearing health education and prevention.

When she's not in the clinic, Dr. Blackmon enjoys discovering new coffee shops around the DC area, staying active through Orange Theory Fitness, and working her way through an ever-growing reading list.
