Dr. Allison Heuber Blackmon

Audiologist

Dr. Allison Blackmon (Heuber) is an audiologist in our Rockville, MD hearing center. Dr. Blackmon received a Bachelor of Arts in Hearing and Speech Sciences with a Minor in Linguistics from the University of Maryland, College Park. She received her Doctor of Audiology degree from Gallaudet University. She holds a Certificate of Clinical Competence in Audiology (CCC-A) from the American Speech-Language and Hearing Association, a Certificate in Tinnitus Management (CH-TM), and is American Board of Audiology Certified (ABAC). She is also a Course Director for CAOHC and has certified numerous active-duty service members and civilians to perform hearing screenings across the U.S. Department of Defense.

Dr. Blackmon is very passionate about hearing and the brain, particularly how hearing loss affects memory and cognition. In 2024, she authored a paper in JASA-EL investigating the effects of asymmetrical hearing loss on perception and working memory in bimodal listeners. Her clinical interests include amplification, tinnitus management, and hearing conservation. She previously worked at Walter Reed National Military Center, tracking the hearing readiness of active-duty and civilian personnel, and educating on prevention of noise-induced hearing loss and the importance of hearing protection. Dr. Blackmon was previously a clinical audiologist here at Live Better Hearing + Balance, treating patients at our Chevy Chase hearing center.

Her personal interests include reading an inordinate number of books, exploring MD and DC for new coffee shops, and going to Orange Theory Fitness classes.
