Clinically proven, FDA-approved relief from tinnitus, now available in Frederick and Ellicott City, Maryland
If you’re one of the millions of Americans living with chronic tinnitus—the constant ringing, buzzing, or hissing in your ears—you know how disruptive it can be. Tinnitus can affect your sleep, concentration, and emotional wellbeing. And while there’s no cure, there are now more effective treatment options than ever before.
At Live Better Hearing + Balance, we’re excited to bring one of the most promising advancements in tinnitus care and treatment to our Maryland patients. Lenire®, the first device of its kind to receive FDA approval for tinnitus relief, is now available at our Frederick and Ellicott City locations. Lenire offers a new, non-invasive way to reduce the burden of tinnitus—and it can be used from the comfort of your own home.
Lenire only available in Frederick and Ellicott City. Other tinnitus treatments available in other locations.
Lenire is an FDA-approved medical device that helps reduce the severity of tinnitus by retraining the brain’s response to internal noise. It works through a treatment approach known as bimodal neuromodulation, which uses two simultaneous forms of stimulation—customized sound through Bluetooth headphones and gentle electrical pulses to the tongue. These signals work together to change the way the brain processes and responds to tinnitus over time.
Unlike many other treatments that simply mask the sound of tinnitus, Lenire targets the neurological roots of the condition. The goal is not just to help you cope, but to help you pay less attention to the tinnitus altogether, making it less noticeable and less distressing in your daily life.
This is a drug-free, non-surgical treatment, and the Lenire device is used at home in two short 30-minute sessions per day. The stimulation is safe and mild—most patients describe it as barely noticeable or even soothing.
The Lenire device has three main components: a pair of Bluetooth headphones, a tongue stimulator (called the Tonguetip®), and a lightweight handheld controller.
The headphones deliver customized sound therapy based on your hearing profile, while the Tonguetip rests comfortably in your mouth and delivers mild pulses to the tip of your tongue. The controller allows you to start, pause, or adjust the session based on your preferences.
During treatment, the brain receives both sound and tongue stimulation in a synchronized pattern. Over time, this dual input helps reduce the brain’s sensitivity to tinnitus. The result is not just relief—but retraining. Your brain begins to pay less attention to the ringing or buzzing, and you regain control of your focus, rest, and emotional balance.
Before starting treatment, our audiologists will conduct a full evaluation to determine whether you’re a candidate for Lenire. If you are, we’ll fit and calibrate the device specifically for you, tailoring the settings to your hearing loss, tinnitus characteristics, and comfort level.
Is Lenire Right for You?
Lenire is designed for adults with moderate or worse chronic tinnitus, especially those who have not found relief through hearing aids, sound therapy, or other approaches. It’s ideal for people who have chronic subjective tinnitus and want a treatment that fits into their daily life.
Many patients find Lenire especially appealing because it’s non-invasive and convenient. You don’t need to wear the device throughout the day or make constant adjustments. Instead, you follow a simple, consistent schedule from home, and return for check-ins with your audiologist as needed.
That said, not everyone with tinnitus is a candidate for Lenire. That’s why we begin every treatment journey with a comprehensive tinnitus consultation to assess your hearing, understand your experience, and determine whether Lenire is a good fit.
Lenire is the result of years of development and clinical testing by Neuromod Devices, and it has undergone some of the most rigorous studies in the field of tinnitus treatment. In a recent FDA-reviewed trial known as TENT-A3, nearly 89% of participants said they would recommend Lenire to others suffering from tinnitus. Previous studies also showed that over 80% of patients experienced a meaningful reduction in their tinnitus symptoms.
These findings are supported by real-world results from more than 200 patients in the U.S., many of whom reported significant improvement in just 6 to 12 weeks of treatment.
Lenire’s FDA approval is a major milestone—not only because it validates the safety and effectiveness of the treatment, but also because it gives patients and providers a new, evidence-based tool in the fight against tinnitus.
