Dr. Kamara Ihekweme is a clinical audiologist at our Rockville, MD hearing center, where she provides comprehensive diagnostic and rehabilitative audiological care to patients across Montgomery County and the greater Washington, D.C. metro area.
Dr. Ihekweme earned her Doctor of Audiology degree from the University of North Texas and holds a Bachelor of Science in Communication Sciences and Disorders and a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from the University of Houston. She is a licensed audiologist in both Maryland and the District of Columbia and holds the Certificate of Clinical Competence in Audiology (CCC-A) from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association.
Dr. Ihekweme has a particular clinical interest in vestibular and balance disorders and brings hands-on experience with a full range of advanced diagnostic testing, including videonystagmography (VNG), bi-thermal caloric testing, and electrophysiologic studies such as Auditory Brainstem Response (ABR), Vestibular Evoked Myogenic Potentials (VEMP), and Electrocochleography (ECochG). She has also supported osseointegrated (bone-anchored) hearing device evaluations and cochlear implant candidacy evaluations, programming, and post-implantation care.
She fits and verifies hearing aids using Real-Ear Measurement to ensure every device is calibrated precisely to each patient's individual hearing profile, and she takes a thorough, evidence-based approach to helping patients understand their hearing health and treatment options.
Outside of the clinic, Dr. Ihekweme enjoys trying new restaurants and spending quality time with her loved ones.
