At Live Better Hearing + Balance, we believe hearing health is more than just a clinical concern — it’s about preserving the connections that bring joy, meaning, and inspiration to our lives.

That’s why we’re proud to share our sponsorship of Strathmore’s 2024–2025 Music in the Mansion concert series. This partnership brings together two passions at the heart of our practice: supporting the arts and helping people experience the beauty of sound.

A Full-Circle Moment for Our Founder

For our CEO and co-founder Dr. Ross Cushing, this sponsorship is deeply personal. Before becoming an audiologist, Dr. Cushing was a lifelong musician — a pianist who found joy in every note and nuance. It was his love for music that led him to the field of audiology, where he could help others rediscover the sounds that once moved them: laughter, conversation, and, of course, music.

From a single clinic in Montgomery Village to over 27 locations across the Mid-Atlantic, Dr. Cushing has always held onto his musical roots. This sponsorship represents a full-circle moment — an opportunity to give back to the community that supported his vision, while championing the power of music to connect and uplift.

Why Hearing Health and Music Belong Together

Hearing and music are inextricably linked. Music isn’t just entertainment — it’s emotional, cultural, and often therapeutic. Yet for many, age-related hearing loss or other conditions can slowly steal that joy away. As audiologists, we see the impact of hearing loss on music appreciation every day — patients who once loved symphonies or singing with their families, now struggling to catch melodies or lyrics.

By supporting a nonprofit music organization like Strathmore, we’re helping ensure that more people — regardless of age or hearing ability — can continue to enjoy the transformative power of music. We view this not just as a sponsorship, but as a shared mission.

And for music lovers in the area, we're proud to offer expert hearing care just down the street from Strathmore at our Rockville clinic — as well as convenient nearby locations in Silver Spring, Montgomery Village, and Chevy Chase. We believe everyone deserves the gift of hearing, especially in a community so deeply connected to music.

About Strathmore’s Music in the Mansion

Strathmore is one of Maryland’s leading cultural institutions, known for curating enriching arts experiences that are both diverse and deeply accessible. Their Music in the Mansion series is a hallmark of this commitment. Held in the historic Dorothy M. and Maurice C. Shapiro Music Room, the series showcases a mix of jazz, folk, classical, and chamber performances from artists around the globe.

With seating for just 75 guests, each concert offers an intimate setting where audiences can experience music up close — and often, in conversation with the visual art on display in the Mansion. It’s an immersive experience that speaks to all the senses.

This year’s lineup includes genre-bending artists like Invoke, Project Trio, Max Hatt and Edda Glass, and bēheld, whose performances tackle everything from social justice to Americana fusion. It’s a celebration of sound in all its richness and diversity.

Strengthening Our Communities Through the Arts

Strathmore is a nonprofit that reaches over 130,000 people annually, many through low-cost or free community programs. Sponsoring this series isn’t just about music — it’s about supporting a cultural lifeline in our region. Our investment helps Strathmore keep these performances accessible, nurture emerging talent, and bring the joy of live music to people from all walks of life.
