Who We Are
Helping People Live Better Lives Through Better Hearing
In addition to our private practices, we have also established the Live Better Foundation, a nonprofit whose goal is to help those who truly can’t afford hearing aids get the help they need, right here within the communities where we live and work. This foundation is consistent with one of our important core values: to be of benefit to people in our communities.
Our offices are staffed with some of the nation’s very best Doctors of Audiology and Hearing Instrument Specialists. Live Better Hearing provides the full range of audiology services for all ages including testing for newborns, diagnostic hearing evaluations, balance testing, advanced electrophysiology testing, as well as the provision of the most cutting-edge hearing aids, balance and tinnitus treatments. Live Better Hearing provides appropriate, medically and scientifically sound testing and treatment options for patients, in a kind and compassionate way.

Over the years, our Live Better Hearing + Balance has acquired many private practices. When we do acquisitions, our priority is to ensure that we keep the things that patients loved about the practice and provide additional value as well. We upgrade equipment, provide expert training, and on occasion, even move the location if needed. Practice names that we have acquired include A&A Maryland Hearing Center (aka A&A Hearing Group), Chevy Chase Audiology Associates, Sandra Castle’s Hearing Specialty Group, Hearing Aid Centers of Richmond, Advanced Hearing Aids of Leesburg, and most recently, West Long Branch Hearing and Speech.
Founded in 2007, Live Better Hearing has grown tremendously through the support of its patients and people. As of a result of thousands of patient success stories, it has now become the premier practice within the Mid-Atlantic region.
We combine an intense passion for helping people with the best hearing healthcare technology available. Our offices are staffed with some of the nation’s best doctors of audiology and hearing instrument specialists.
About the Owners
At the heart of Live Better Hearing’s focus and purpose are its founders and owners, Drs. Ross and Jenifer Cushing. They met at the University of Buffalo while working on their doctorates in audiology. As students, both Ross and Jen knew that when they graduated, they wanted to create a practice that put people first, and fate brought them together to do just that – as a husband and wife team. As business leaders and owners, Ross and Jen remain resolute and tenacious in their mission of helping people live better lives through the experience of better hearing. Ross and Jen have three beautiful children and live happily in Maryland.
We recognize that patients and referring physicians have many options today when seeking experts in hearing aids. Still, there are not many options for experts in the full scope of audiology from hearing aids to tinnitus, to balance evaluations and treatment, to cochlear implants and infant screens – we do it all. And we view the opportunity to serve our patients as a distinct privilege.
